Kitchen Update!

It has been a while since I updated everyone on what has been going on! We will start with the kitchen update...We have finally (almost) finished it; we are now adding those finishing touches!! The floor was probably the hardest thing that we have had to do yet. And I am not talking about laying the tile...I am talking about pulling up 4 layers of linoleum that have been there since the 60's and 70's probably!! Needless to say they were all STUCK!!

Here are some pictures of us working late on getting the flooring up!

This went on for two nights! We finally finished and laid the backer board!

And of course Macy was helping :)

Lastly here is a preview of the tile; still working on those finishing touches so I will post a pic of the whole thing later on with the backsplash and some before and afters!!  Hope yall enjoy!

We have tile! :)

I hope everyone had an awesome Mother's Day! We were not able to see our Mom's so we spent the day picking out tile!!! Yes tile, and yes I am so excited about the tile! In about a week we will have a kitchen floor & backsplash! Stay tuned for before and after pictures of our kitchen. It will finally be...FINISHED! yay!

Here are some of my favorite finds this past week:

http://www.laurenconrad.com/

Who knew that L.C. had this website with all this awesome information?! I am trying out her Bikini Boot Camp Plan this week! It has been great so far (I know, it's only Monday)! Here is what my yummy lunch looked like today!
Pretty good! Salad with cucumbers, avocado, cherry tomotoes, quinoa and a mixture of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice and salt and pepper for the dressing. (I forgot my almonds)

This is my next favorite find! It is like a scentsy, but from Wal-Mart! Love it! Trying to make the new place smell pretty! :)

Lastly...Colored Denim, I am loving it right now! Love all the summer colors they have out right now!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Happy Friday

Happy Happy Friday everyone!!

Here are a few pictures of the work we did on this house this week:

These are the before pictures of the fireplace; don't be fooled this is actually painted to look like brick! They literally painted the bricks a brick color and painted all of the spaces in between gray! That must have taken forever!!

Primed and ready to go!

Here we are, hard at work...Macy is such a help haha!

Almost done!!!

Just for the record, painting a fireplace is not very fun and I hope that we do not have to do it again anytime soon! That being said, I absolutely LOVE the outcome of this chocolate-y brown fireplace!! The pictures don't do it justice, hopefully I can get some better ones sometime soon! As my friend Ashley said: "It looks so good you can eat it!"

Hope you all enjoy the pics! Have a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all the awesome Mom's out there!

Awesome Weekend!

We had a great weekend with my sister and brother in law! Why do those weekends have to end? I always hate leaving my sister but now we are counting down till next time!

This weekend we got a lot done on the house! I meant to get some action photos of the boys but I completely forgot!! I guess Sarah and I were too busy doing the girl stuff! The boys filled in ALL of the holes in the bathroom that the plumber had to rip out to install the toilets and vanities! This was huge, there have been open holes in the walls for a few weeks now! So now we are almost ready to paint!! Sarah and I unpacked and cleared out a few rooms! It was such a big help having Sarah and Lance here this weekend...Why do they live so far away??

Also since my last post we have painted the kitchen and the living room! Next on the agenda for painting is the fireplace and built ins in the living room!

Stay Focused...

I have decided that each week I will focus on a different room (or every two weeks, however long that particular room may take). The first "focus" is going to be the Kitchen. I think this has been my main focus since the beginning! When we bought the house we knew the kitchen (along with many other rooms) would need some help. First plan of action for me was the cabinets!! Where did I turn for inspiration?? None other than Pinterest. Our cabinets needed a little love, to say the least! They most definitely needed an update and after some thought, I decided a cream color would be perfect!

Here is a picture of our cabinets before...

Straight  from the 1960's :)

First, we had to sand...and sand...and sand! So we wiped down the cabinets and I began sanding away!! I have lots of pictures of the cabinets so here are some from after we sanded..

Next step was to prime, this was pretty easy; we just took a cabinet roller and primed everything!

Finally, it was time to paint! I chose "antique white" by Behr. I LOVE this color. In fact, it has found a home in several places in our house now!! We had to give the cabinets two good coats, so it took quite a few days from beginning to end.

Macy and I painting!

And for the finishing touches...we spray painted the knobs with an Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint!
I am so happy with our finished product (not the best pictures)! The kitchen is still a work in progress, but we are definitely one step closer!!
